Creativity is on display in a Rutland Park
The event, called Art in the Park, is a fundraiser for the Chaffee Art Center in Rutland. More than sixty vendors lined up selling paintings, pottery, and jewelry. The center's executive director says the Art in the Park events raise thousands of dollars annually. That money goes towards education programs and maintenance on the historic building. We spoke with a well-known painter who says he hasn't missed an event in 20 years.
"It's a wonderful time to come and display my work certainly and I always paint when I come," said painter Peter Huntoon.
"There has to be events in the community that people participate in and go to and see. It's part of our culture than anything else in the world," said Wally Sietz of Rutland.
Art in the Park continues Sunday.
