SWANTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont State Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Swanton gas station where the suspect had a hatchet.

Police say around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, someone dressed in all black entered the Hometown Sunoco on First Street with a hatchet and demanded cash and a carton of Marlboro cigarettes. The suspect ran from the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say nobody was injured.

The suspect is described as white, between 5′ 2″ and 5′ 4″, weighing about 150 lbs. and wearing a black puffy hooded jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call the state police in St. Albans at 802-524-5993.

Police say the suspect may be connected to two burglaries in neighboring towns that are being investigated by the St. Albans Police.
