Woman facing charges in deadly wrong-way crash

WINDSOR, Vt. (WCAX) - One person is dead after police say a driver turned around on Interstate 91 and started going the wrong way.

It happened Tuesday at about 4:30 p.m. in Windsor.

Police say Sarah Love, 34, of Waitsfield, was driving erratically, and then turned her car around and smashed head-on into another car.

The driver of that other car, Kathleen Spence, 59, of Rockingham, died in the wreck.

Police say Love was under the influence of alcohol at that time.

“I saw lights coming up and I was thinking, that car looks like it’s going the wrong way. And when I was about to say it, I hadn’t even gotten the word car out and they just smashed. It was like a bomb. Everything was just everywhere,” said Trent Lowe, who witnessed the crash.

Interstate 91 south was closed at Exit 9 while the crash scene with cleaned up.

Love is accused of gross negligent operation with death resulting and DUI with death resulting.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the police.
